A pre-stomach bug review, full of life and wit and a Real World intro!
This is a bland review because I’m recovering from a stomach thing, but here it is!
Please note that this book doesn’t actually come out until May 1. I won an ARC of this through a blog giveaway (link in the review) and am reviewing it with minimal spoilers and a focus on my feelings and a general idea of events. But if you want none of that, stay far, far away from this review until you’ve read the book. And once you have, by all means let me know what you think! I’m excited to talk about this book with others.
From Goodreads: “One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.
Tris’s initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.
New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth’s much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.” Continue reading
Giving the direct copying of the HTML Goodreads offers a try. Before reading this review, please note that I did not finish the book. I got to page 121 before throwing in the towel. So it’s not exactly my best review ever, though it is one of my more honest ones. For a full description of the book, follow the book title link to Goodreads.
You may have noticed I’m on a HUGE YA dystopia kick right now. Here comes another! I completely devoured Wither. 4/5 stars!
2/5 stars, plus the strange, guilty feeling that I must have missed something because everyone else seems to love this book and I just can’t.
